ND Filters (ND8 / ND16 / ND32 / ND128)
• Function: Reduce the volume of light entering the dual sensors without changing colors. This allows to force a slower shutter speed (following the 180-degree shutter rule, e.g. locking shutter at 1/50s when shooting at 24fps) in broad daylight.
• Expected Sample Result: Fast-moving subjects, panning shots, and running water take on a smooth, organic cinematic motion blur.
VND 1–5 Stops
• Function: Combines multiple ND strengths into one piece of glass. By turning the small physical ring on the filter frame, you continuously transition from ND2 up to ND32 (1 to 5 stops of light reduction).
• Expected Sample Result: From needing to unclip and swap physical filters when moving from a sunny street into a shaded alleyway. Adjusting the dial during a transition cleanly stabilizes exposure, resulting in a single, un-interrupted clip with a perfectly uniform exposure depth.
CPL
• Function: Blocks scattered polarized light waves. It actively cuts through glare originating from non-metallic surfaces like glass windows, wet roads, or water bodies.
• Expected Sample Result: Reveals that a standard shot of a lake or windshield suffers from a harsh white glare. With the CPL engaged, the white reflection on the water disappears, revealing the rocks underneath, while foliage appears a deeper, more saturated green and sky gradients turn a rich deep blue.
Mist Black 1/4
• Function: Spreads harsh highlights and lowers overall image contrast without reducing the sharpness of fine details.
• Expected Sample Result: In a portrait or nighttime scene, streetlights and light bulbs stop looking like harsh digital white points; instead, they display a soft, dreamy, blooming halo effect. On human subjects, skin tones are smoothed out, wrinkles are softened, and skin blemishes are naturally blended into the frame right out of the camera.
